RCT is very commonly performed procedure in patients. It is done when tooth decay is deep and involves nerve of tooth. Usually RCT can be performed in single visit. In some cases it may require multiple visits. After RCT, usually crown (cap) is given on to tooth for esthetic reasons and also to prevent fracture in tooth.
